Resolution of the Board of SSP IUSTITIA concerning the statements of President Andrzej Duda in Zwolen and Katowice

Association of Polish Judges “Iustitia” protests against hate campaign led by President of Poland Andrzej Duda directed at judges, at the opportunity of campaigning in Zwoleń and Katowice. Statements indicating that courts are the obstacle to proper development of Poland are a lie and suggesting that judges are unreliable and “shall be eliminated” otherwise “Poland shall never be a normal state” is clear example of hate speech, which may result in acts of violence against individual judges. Hereby we remind that article 10 of Polish Constitution states, that courts are third, equal power, next to executive and legislative.
Independent judiciary constitutes basic guarantee of citizens’ laws and freedoms enshrined in Polish Constitution. Questioning these values by President of Poland is unacceptable and against Polish legal order.
