Resolution of the Judges of Lublin Appelation Circuit

Resolution No.1

of the General Assembly of the Judges of Lublin Appellation Circuit of 24th April 2018

The General Assembly of the Judges of Lublin Appellation Circuit supports the position of the General Assemblies of the Judges of Kraków and Katowice Appellation Circuits of 16th April 218 and joins the postulate to all judges to:

  • show unity and solidarity in preserving the values which constitute ethos of a judicial profession,
  • refrain from any acting which lead to limitation of judicial and court independence,

as well as appeals to judges elected to the National Council of Judiciary to resign from membership in the body which has been established in breach of the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland.

At the same time the General Assembly of the Judges of Lublin Appellation Circuit expresses its disapprobation to the legislative changes regarding the functioning of courts, which are now being processed, as they are of illusory nature and do not eliminate the negative effects of the amendments to the Law on the Organisation of Courts, which were introduced in 2016-2017 with regards to the organisation of common courts, the status of judges and women-judges retirement age.
