MEDEL announced May 23rd as the alert day for the independence of Justice in Europe

“The growing nationalist and populist movements that have been spreading all over the
continent, the unprecedented attacks against the independence of the Judiciary that we have
been witnessing in countries like Hungary or Poland and the disrespect for basic principles of
the Rule of Law in countries like Turkey (a member of the Council of Europe), remind us that
the existence of an independent Judiciary must never be taken for granted and that it is a
constant and fundamental struggle for every citizen in any country.”
